Traveler's Checklist

Check Locations Lists to see if you need to apply for a Travel Exception, and if so, apply at least 30 days prior to your planned departure.

If you are an international student or employee, holding a visa or Green Card, please contact OVIS for specific advice before you travel outside the U.S.

If you do not need an Exception or when your Exception is approved, register your travel.

Travel to a foreign country presents unique IT security challenges for Dartmouth faculty, staff, and students, potentially requiring extra safeguards to protect your data and comply with regulations. If taking electronic devices with you on travel outside the U.S. (e.g., laptops, tablets, smart phones, etc.), please refer to Dartmouth's IT Security Guidelines While Traveling Internationally for additional guidance.

Read through the International SOS (ISOS) reports for the locations you are traveling to. There is an updated ISOS portal – please register on the new site for access - https://myportal.internationalsos.com/ and use the Dartmouth ID to create a new profile : (ID 11BSGC000018) when asked for affiliation. Please note you will need to register again even if you had an account on the old ISOS site.

Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) offered by the US Department of State or with the nearest embassy or consulate of your country of citizenship at your travel locations.
