Dartmouth’s engagement with the world includes a robust study abroad program as well as institutional partnerships, research networks, and faculty collaborations with international colleagues. Whether developing science and policy for the circumpolar regions, collaborating on the Humanities and other areas through the Matariki Network, partnering with USAID on post-conflict development in Kosovo, or training medical students and providers in Tanzania and Rwanda, Dartmouth faculty and students are engaged in research and educational programs around the world.
Dartmouth is one of the seven founding members of the Matariki Network of Universities, which was established in 2011 to enable partner universities to enhance research collaborations, share ideas and expertise, and create innovative student and faculty exchange programs. Read more here.
The DarDar Program was established in 2001 as a research collaboration between the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. "DarDar"represents the Kiswahili word for sister and represents the strong bond between the two institutions.
The collaborative supports the examination of regional and international variations in health care through academic networking, research meetings, and mid-career fellowships. It is a joint initiative between The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dartmouth and the American University of Kuwait (AUK) have formally collaborated since 2003, one year before AUK welcomed its first class of students. Since then, the partnership has deepened, enhancing the liberal arts learning experience on both campuses. AUK faculty teach and conduct research in Hanover, Dartmouth and AUK students participate in an internship exchange, and faculty and staff from the two schools share expertise on academic and administrative projects.
The USAID|Kosovo Transformational Leadership Program works to develop the capacity of Kosovars to bring about change in their country through opportunities for advanced education, leadership development, and technical assistance. The Program is a five-year, joint USAID – Government of Kosovo project aimed at developing a cadre of leaders to drive significant change in priority economic, political and social development areas.
A collaboration between Dartmouth, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and the University of the Arctic, IACP promotes discussion, research, analysis, and policy action on critical issues facing the circumpolar north and its peoples as a result of climate change. IACP brings together representatives of governments, higher education institutions, non-governmental organizations, and indigenous peoples to examine climate change issues requiring policy attention.
The Waseda University Global Leadership Program was launched in 2012. In partnership with Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Georgetown, Berkeley, University of Washington and University of Pennsylvania, the program seeks to develop leadership among students with a focus on Asia and Japan.

Recognizing the enormous role that businesses can play in helping solve large-scale problems, six of the world's leading business schools have come together to forge a unique international partnership. The partnering schools — ESSEC Business School; Keio Business School; School of Management, Fudan University Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; the University of Mannheim Business School, and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) — were selectively chosen for their stature in the international community and the common vision they share of fostering academic excellence and the importance of a broad view of the role of business in society.
Dartmouth and Ashesi University, which is located in in Accra, Ghana, formed a partnership in 2016. Dartmouth and Ashesi work together on programming and activities such as student exchange, co-curricular programs, internship opportunities, library and research service support, and faculty collaborations in Computer Science and Engineering.
The Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS) brings together scientists, engineers, and indigenous knowledge holders in order to advance Arctic research and knowledge.
