Pedro Cátedra is a professor of Early Modern Hispanic Literature at the University of Salamanca and is one of the most prestigious scholars in Hispanic Medieval Literature. His lecture, “Arte cisoria y la construcción de un discurso auto-representativo en el siglo XV” will be focusing on the intellectual figure Enrique de Villena and his work on Arte cisoria, a treatise that played a significant role within the cultural life of the Peninsula. In this work, Villena discusses the political role of cutting food on the tables of princes through strict rules of conduct and an educational program in court.
